Memories of a 1962 Grad
 |
 |
by Forrest Towry '62 |
- Poncho the true Edison Eagle
- Annette on the Mickey Mouse Club
- Splitting the day with the high school and
classes in the pre-fabs.
- Jim Shanner running through the glass doors.
- Electing Alfred E. Newman as class president in Mr.Winfrey's
homeroom class.
- The day the Jr. High School football team was
advised it had to have facemasks.
- Mustang Motor scooters.
- Not to wear green and yellow on Thursday.
- Madras shirts, wheat jeans and blue tip tennis shoes.
- Going to Penningtons in John Stambaugh's 1936 Ford
with the one and only Galard Sartain and shooting
Jake the security guard with a water pistol.
- Circling Penningtons for hours just to park in sosh
row.
- Being chased off stage after singing a verse of Hay
LA TE LA TE DOE in reference to my dad and being
pulled into an office by my dad to escape the arms of
the speech teacher.
- Watching Mr. Butts walk down the hall.
14. Escaping to Penningtons with Mr. Hayes English
class.
- Using the elevator without getting caught.
- Swat's from Coach Sellers.
- The song that drove a lot of us nuts because it kept
on playing: Tammy, Tammy's in Love.
- The tree across the street from the gym that had all
the shoes hanging from the limbs.
- Gas at 27.9 per gal. and that was Ethel!
20. Sneaking into the Admiral Twin Drive In in the trunk of
a car when the cost of a car load was only $1.00.
- In-car heaters at the drive in.
- Coach H.J. Green painting our thumbs red for right
and blue for left to insure him we would go in the right
direction.
- The best memories has to be Penningtons, Mr. T's,
the Blue Moon, the Twist (everyone could do it) and
most of all not having drugs pushed on us only a quart
of cold Coors was all we needed.
